Supervises Administrative personnel and Branch Managers directly, general staff indirectly, or as needed; Reports monthly to a nine (9) member Board of Trustees; Assists patrons; Works with city, county, and state officials; Nurtures relationships with local community groups; Oversees materials collection, automated library system and public access computers; Prepares and manages an annual budget of $1.8 million; Coordinates building maintenance; Guides long-range planning with accreditation benchmarks; Implements new technologies; Compiles data of library use; Applies for and manages public and private grants; Actively participates in state and national library associations.
Masters degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited university; Excellent writing and communication skills; Good computer and Internet experience; Ability to travel to library-related conferences and workshops; Valid driver’s license; Minimum of five years of library administration/management experience. Essential skills: management, budget experience, critical thinking and analytical abilities, conflict resolution, communication, professional relationships. Demonstrated experience with building library programs, evaluating services and technology, and supervising personnel is strongly desired.
Salary & Benefits
Salary range is $65,000 - $72,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience Personal/medical leave; participation in the MS Public Employees' Retirement System; health insurance; dental and vision insurance; state life insurance; 10 paid holidays per year.
